Forthcoming Group Events

Unless otherwise stated below the events and visits are open to Members, Associates, their families and friends. The more people who attend our events the more fun we have! We make everyone feel welcome!

2010

2 March
Group Meeting - Road Accidents and Future Road Developments in Bolton. John Davies of BMBC Highways and Engineering Department will be speaking to us. As motorists we should take a positive interest in the plans for our road network, so here is an opportunity to hear first hand what is planned. Please arrive in good time so that you can get your drinks and find a seat so that we can make a prompt start at 8.00pm.

6 March
Ride & Ramble—TBA. Arrive by 13.50 for 14.00 start—but don't be late because the walkers won't wait. 'Those boots are made for walking' so put them on and enjoy a ramble in the countryside. Our walks are open to everyone so why not come along for some fresh air and good company! There is a small charge of 50p per adult for this event, with proceeds going to Bolton Mountain Rescue and the North West Air Ambulance.

7 March
Manoeuvrability exercises. Just a reminder for Associates that these will take place at Chorley Street car park during the morning session.

9 March
Mature Driver Seminar. These seminars are arranged by Bolton Road Safety Unit, and run in conjunction with the Bolton Group. This date is now full, but contact the Road Safety Unit on 01204 336465 if you know of a non-group member who may wish to enrol on a later seminar.

16 March
Associates Meet the Examiner Evening - If you are an Associate, then we expect you to attend as this evening forms part of your course. The evening has been arranged so that the Examiner can tell you what he will be looking for on your test and to give you an opportunity to ask him any questions you may have about the test or driving in general. If you are unable to attend please let your Mentor know. We will be at Dobbies Sports & Social Club, Bradley Fold Road, Bradley Fold, Bolton, BL2 6QP and we'll be starting at 7.45 pm prompt!

4 April
Easter Sunday. Although this is a Holiday weekend we will be at Chorley Street for training as normal. If you know that you will NOT be attending, please mark the register in the port-acabin

The last time he spoke to us was in 1999 when he was part of the Force Drug Squad. Having progressed through the ranks he was promoted to Inspector in 2003 at Bury. He then spent 5 years as Detective Inspector in Force Intelligence before becoming Neighbourhood Inspector at Astley Bridge.
